To plan the perfect Australian holiday, start with your imagination and then begin planning with some basic information.

The Australian continent is very large and to make sucessful travel plans an appreciation of its size is important. Australia is a diverse, isolated and very large country. It is the only single continent country in the world.

The Australian continent covers 7.686. 850 sq km (2, 967,909 sq miles). This is as large as the United States of America without Hawaii and Alaska. It is situated in the Southern Hemisphere and spans tropical, arid and temperate zones. This means that Australian travel can incorporate endless combinations of experience. These include tropical adventures, diving, magnificent beaches and islands, including a not-to-be-missed visit to the Great Barrier Reef. Then just a few hours flight away you can experience the desert with camel trekking, breathtaking scenery, desert flowers (in season) and a visit to Uluru and then it is possible to take a break in one of the major cities situated on the coastline, which offer a vibrant and broad city experience with great places to visit, wonderful food and fantastic wine. Australia is a large continent that offers the traveller an abundance of choices.

Sit back, relax and imagine your perfect holiday – imagine your holiday dream – relaxing, walking, cultural experiences, backpacking, luxury, health-break, extreme, wilderness, urban, solo or with your friends, partner or family - then imagine the place, tropical island, waterfalls and gorges, spectacular arid landscapes, beautiful beaches, soaring trees and forests, fresh snow, a vibrant city, farmland or even theme parks – no matter what your perfect holiday combination Australia can provide the ideal backdrop.

It is important when planning a trip to Australia to keep in mind just how big this continent is and tailor your plans accordingly. Australia is divided into six states – Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland and Tasmania – and two territories – Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory. By far the easiest way to travel in Australia is by air if you are in a hurry, but Australia has some of the most beautiful and rewarding drives in the world and so travelling by car has many rewards. There are three major internal Australian airlines Qantas and its budget arm Jetstar, and Virgin Blue. Flights with these airlines to major cities and to many minor tourist destinations can easily be booked on-line.
